Publisher Annapurna Interactive and French development studio Blue Twelve have today revealed Stray, a cyberpunk adventure game about a lost cat, which is se to launch to PS5 and PC in 2021.
The game has actually been in the works for several years under the name “HK_Project.” You can check out some development updates circa 2017 over on a now unused blog page here.
Details on Stray’s story and gameplay are shared over on the game’s Steam page, which is now live and available to wishlist for those who are interested in the PC version of the game.
The game’s synopsis tees up its story premise:
“Lost, alone, and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.”
It is explained that “Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly.”
Players are set to explore a sandbox that features plenty of verticality, all the while staying vigilant for “unforeseen threats” in an unwelcoming world inhabited by unassuming android and dangerous creatures.
It won’t be all doom and gloom, though. Interacting with the world in playful ways, as all cats do, provides some comic relief. You’ll also have a buddy drone called B12 to keep you company along the way.
