After announcing State of Decay 2 last summer, developer Undead Labs hasn’t gone into a whole lot of detail on the sequel outside of releasing sumptuous concept art.

Speaking in an interview with Gamespot at PAX East 2017, Undead Labs CEO Jeff Strain went into some details regarding the game.

Strain confirmed that there will not be any competitive multiplayer, saying, “As far as the multiplayer component, it is very joyfully cooperative multiplayer.” Whilst this may come as bad news for some looking to compete against their fellow survivors, the good news is that efforts elsewhere have grown exponentially.

Strain noted that the development team for State of Decay 2 is “about four times as large,” and also said of the game’s map size, “The size of the development team will give you a feel for probably how much larger things are.”

The game will be released for Windows 10 and Xbox One, and with regard to more information in the coming months, Strain had this to say:

“We will be releasing selective tidbits about the game and pieces of information like that just so that people can see that it’s coming and get excited about it. I think that it’s fair to say that at E3 there’ll be a lot more information.”
