Stardew Valley Update 1.4 Will Let You Raise Fish

Stardew Valley update 1.4 fish and ponds

ConcernedApe, the developer of the hit indie farming simulator Stardew Valley, tweeted out a sneak peek of what we can expect form update 1.4 – and if you’re tired of journeying all the way to the beach to fish, then this is the update for you.

The latest update to the game will introduce fish ponds to your farm. This will count as a new farm building and allow you to raise fish and collect their roe.

As well as fish, players will also be able to collect other items from their ponds, although no more specifics have been given on that matter.

This latest feature should come as a welcome relief for anyone who didn’t choose the Riverland Farm at the start of the game.

ConcernedApe, AKA Eric Barone, shared a screengrab with the tweet showing off what we can expect from the latest addition. The pic features several small ponds in which players can fish, one of which looks to be full of coral.

Aside from the new watery farm additions, we can also see something unfamiliar and ready to be harvested from the preserves jars(caviare, perhaps?).

Stardew Valley has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Since its release three years ago the rural lifestyle RPG has exploded in popularity thanks to its addictive gameplay and infinitely varied styles with which you can play.

Barone has been tirelessly adding to the game’s content over the years. Since launch Stardew Valley has spread to consoles and mobile, developed a robust modding community, and included mulitplayer as of update 1.3.

Update 1.4 looks like it’ll be Barone’s most ambitious yet. Some console fans have been less than optimistic about when it will be available to them however, following the difficult journey the updates have had in reaching console ports.

Barone assured fans over Twitter that he would “do everything I can to make this 1.4 update come to console much, much quicker than the 1.3 update did, and also come to all consoles simultaneously”.

When exactly 1.4 will come Stardew is still unknown, but given that we’re already seeing a few sneak peeks, the date will hopefully not be too far away.
