It’s Official: EA’s Upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Puts Players in Jedi Robes

EA Star Wars

Star Wars. It is a name we all love and adore for better or for worse. It is synonymous with both the best and worst the entertainment industry has to offer, from the fantastic space opera of the original trilogy to the Bantha dung that is the Holiday Special. Ever since EA announced it was producing a new Star Wars games, gamers eagerly awaited to learn more about the title. And now, thanks to E3, we finally have a basic idea of what’s in store.

EA interrupted its own EA Play with the long-awaited reveal of its Star Wars game, now titled Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Well, not so much of a reveal as a little shout-out. While Respawn Entertainment didn’t have a trailer or anything ready, co-founder Vince Zampella had a juicy little tidbit about the long-awaited game.

According to Zampella, the game will take place during the “dark times” between Episodes 3 and 4. Think Star Wars: Rebels, Rogue One, or The Force Unleashed, although we don’t know if the protagonist will cross paths with any of the characters from those pieces of the Star Wars expanded universe. All we know for sure is that players will wield lightsabers. Or at the very least one lightsaber. We know so little about the game, so all we can do now is speculate. Well, we know the protagonist will be hunted because they’re a Jedi, but that’s it. Who will hunt them? Clone/Storm Troopers? Bounty Hunters? Darth Vader? Maybe the game will feature some other famous Star Wars faces.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order might not be the linear, single-player experience initially proposed by Visceral Games, but maybe this change in direction was for the best. Jedi are insanely popular, and so maybe Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will give us an experience worthy of the Star Wars name. Only time will tell. We will have to wait until Holiday of 2019.
