Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new video showing more progress on the growing space simulator.

The video focuses primarily on the new throwing mechanics that will make throwing grenades more intuitive and precise.

Interestingly, you won’t be just limited to lob grenades, but if you want to pick up an heavy object and throw it in your enemy’s face, it’ll actually work and deal damage. Throwing will also be usable to distract NPCs and, I guess, just for fun.

You can check out the video below.

In other Star Citizen news, the crowdfunding total has passed $310 million.

To be more precise, it’s sitting on $310,574,385 at the moment of this writing, with over a million made over the past week.

The number of registered accounts is now well over 2.7 million (currently 2,756,838).

As usual, it’s known that not all of them are paying players. The number includes free accounts created for a variety of reasons, including free fly events.

For the sake of full disclosure, the author of this article has been a Star Citizen backer since the original Kickstarter campaign several years ago, so you should keep that in mind while reading.

About the author

Giuseppe Nelva

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
