Square Enix Has Been Splitting Effort Between Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake

If you’ve ever wondered why it’s taken so long for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake to come to fruition, there’s an easy answer to tha question. As it turns out, in an interview with The Verge during E3 2018, Tetsuya Nomura shared that the teams at Square Enix have been giving equal effort to both games.

“So right now, it’s like I’ve been putting in 100 percent into Kingdom Hearts, 100 percent into Final Fantasy VII, 100 percent into Kingdom Hearts…” says Nomura. “[…]Just going back and forth,” he says. “It’s just like [working on] two titles is just going to be one [after Kingdom Hearts III’s launch]. That’s pretty much how I see it.”

With Final Fantasy VII out of the early concept stages and in development now, and Kingdom Hearts 3 in the playable demo stage where folks at E3 2018 this past week could give it a try, soon it seems the team will be able to focus their efforts on just one game soon enough.

It’s got to be a difficult balance to keep both games going at once, and ensuring everything is going well between the two, so this makes the fact that one has even gotten anywhere close to nearing completion an absolute miracle, when you think about how hard it is to bring a game out to retail and make sure it’s a quality product. We’ll be hearing more about both games soon, hopefully, as we’re about ready to get more information about Final Fantasy VII Remake, that’s for sure.
