Today Square Enix reached out via Twitter conveying support for the ESA’s decision not to hold the trade show.

The publisher also mentioned that its lineup for 2020 and for the next-generation beyond is “stronger than ever.”

Given that they won’t be able to show those games at E3, they’re now exploring other options to share them with the fans.

You can read the full statement below.

Square Enix isn’t the first publisher to express the intention to explore alternative means to showcase its E3 lineup

Yesterday, Microsoft announced that it’ll host its own digital event, while Ubisoft is also exploring similar options.

It remains to be seen how many more publishers will join this trend. It’s probably safe to assume that we’re going to see more announcements like this over the next few days, with more details coming down the line.

In the meanwhile, the organizers of Gamescom in August are going forward as planned, at least for now.

We’ll keep you posted here on Twinfinite about further developments as they are announced.
