Ys Net has just posted on its Kickstarter page a new progress report of the highly-anticipated JRPG Shenmue III, with some good news and bad news.
Firstly, the bad news: The developers announced that they won’t participate in any game-related events and conferences this June. Therefore, Shenmue III is definitely not making an appearance in this year’s E3. The statement in the Kickstarter update also explains:
‘While our schedule has yet to be finalized, we will be devoting June to game development and as a result, will unfortunately not be participating in any game shows. On the other hand, we look forward to bringing you our monthly updates and hope you do too!’
And now, the good news: The dev update video showcased the animations and concept arts of an all-new masculine character. Although there isn’t any official info of this character, it’s assumed that he might be a crucual element in the main storyline.
Shenmue III is the third installment of the critically acclaimed JRPG series of the same name. It had made a surprise appearance on Sony’s E3 2015 Press Conference, with a Kickstarter funding campaign. Shenmue III then became one of the most successful Kickstarter projects in history with $6,333,295 funded during its campaign duration. The game is slated for a late 2017 on PC and PS4.
