If you ever considered diving into Shadow of the Tomb Raider but were too scared to take the plunge, I’ve got some good news.
Starting today, Shadow of the Tomb Raider lets potential players try before they buy with a long-awaited free trial. Yes, a trial, not one of those limited-time demos that tease players with five minutes of gameplay and end abruptly on a cliffhanger.
Not only does the trial allow players to experience the opening levels of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it also lets players pick up where they left off after they purchase the game. All save data carries over, and the full game is ready and waiting thanks to the trial, no additional downloads necessary.
As you may have already guessed, Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s trial is available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Well, it’s currently available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and the PC version is scheduled to launch on Steam later today.
If you enjoy the free trial and own an Xbox One, I have some additional news: the full game is 50% off on the Xbox One store. While this is a limited-time sale that will only last for the next few days, it is a huge boon for gamers who enjoy the trial on the Xbox One, and it even applies to the Digital Deluxe and Croft Edition versions. Unfortunately, the sale does not extend to individual pieces of DLC, and the PlayStation 4 and PC versions still cost $60.
When we reviewed Shadow of the Tomb Raider earlier this year, we gave the game a glowing review, complete with an Editor’s Choice award. We thoroughly enjoyed the combat, the set-pieces, and graphics. Plus, more Shadow of the Tomb Raider goodness is on the way thanks to DLC tombs.
