Remember Player’s Choice? For years, many of us might have bought some Nintendo games very much after their initial releases, and, as a result, we would be met with the Player’s Choice text emblazoned across the top of the box art. It didn’t get very much in the way, but, still, many of us wanted those original box arts. Eventually, Player’s Choice became Nintendo Selects, and the trend continued.
It had been a while since we had seen some new Nintendo Selects, but VideoGamesPlus, a Canadian games retailer, may have unveiled the latest collection of specially chosen software. Of course, with the latest Nintendo hardware would also come selections from the latest games.
From the library of 3DS games, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Mario Party Island Tour, Yoshi’s New Island, and the rare Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D are apparently set to receive the re-release treatment. Strangely, some Wii games seem to also be prepped as Nintendo Selects, including Donkey Kong Country Returns, Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Animal Crossing: City Folk.
In a first for the Wii U library, several games also seem to be selected, including Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, NES Remix Pack, and Pikmin 3. Keep in mind that Nintendo has not officially announced that this re-release is signed, sealed, and set to happen. Still, the cover arts provided are pretty convincing, and the website already has them available for pre-order.
If these Nintendo Selects really are a thing, then you can look forward to nabbing your own copy of these excellent titles for $29.99 each, starting on March 11th, 2016. Again, as this hasn’t been confirmed by Nintendo themselves, take this with a grain of salt. Hopefully, it’s true, though; many of these games are precious cinnamon rolls that the world must get another chance to experience.
