I Am Setsuna, the game developed by Tokyo RPG Factory and published by Square Enix, received a release date confirmation today. You traditional JRPG fans will be happy to know that there’s even a teaser to go along with this announcement.
While a July 19 release date for the PS4 and PC is certainly interesting news, if you watch the teaser above, you’ll see them actually harken back to the JRPGs “of yesteryear.” I Am Setsuna follows an “active time battle” style of combat, wherein a bar needs to be filled before an action can be taken. This is akin to old Final Fantasy games, and is sure to get traditional fans happy, as these days feel very devoid of games taking that approach. Even a long-standing series like Final Fantasy is taking to the ARPG route with its next iteration.
