Today Marvelous Entertainment hosted a broadcast focusing on the Rune Factory series and showcased a trailer and footage of Rune Factory 4 Special for Nintendo Switch alongside a tease of Rune Factory 5.
Below you can see the trailer and new gameplay footage of Rune Factory 4 Special, and at the end of the trailer, you’ll see the small Rune Factory 5 tease, which is basically just the confirmation of a release window and a small tidbit of info.
At the moment RF5 is scheduled for a 2020 release window with no specific date. While Marvelous wasn’t exactly generous with the info, we learn that you’ll be able to transfer data from Rune Factory 4 special into the new game, which I guess is better than nothing.
The precise effect of transferring the save data has not been specified besides the fact that you’re going to get “something good.” More details will be revealed down the line.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Rune Factory series, it’s a mix of fantasy JRPG and simulation gameplay that debuted with Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon for Nintendo DS in 2006. RF4 Special is actually the seventh release of the series, originally released for 3DS. RF5 is the eighth.
Rune Factory 5 has been announced exclusively for Nintendo Switch in 2020.
Rune Factory 4 Special will release for Nintendo Switch in Japan on July 25. It’ll come west sometime this year.
