Yesterday, we reported the news that the timed Xbox One exclusive, Rise of the Tomb Raider, had sold over 1 million copies since its release. Today, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has offered a little more information on these figures.
When asked by a fan on Twitter whether this figure mean’t units shipped or actual sales, Greenberg confirmed this figure mean’t sales of the game.
@PNF4LYFE It is sell-through and well over 1M units, big December!

Rise of the Tomb Raider was just one of four Microsoft published gazmes which sold over a million copies during the Holiday season. The other three games are Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Forza Motorsport 6, and Halo 5: Guardians.
As of its release in November, Rise of the Tomb Raider was exclusive to the Xbox One and Xbox 360. It is due to be released on PC on January 28 and will then come to the PlayStation 4 in late 2016. No doubt the game’s release onto other platforms will greatly increase the game’s sales figures as other gamers get the chance to play it.
