It looks like Owlchemy Labs, developer of HTC Vive launch game Job Simulator, is partnering with Adult Swim Games to bring the universe-bending world of Rick and Morty to virtual reality. The game is aptly named Rick and Morty Simulator: Virtual Rick-ality, and is coming to the HTC Vive.
The game seems to be drawing heavily from the developer’s recently released Job Simulator, but in possibly the best ways. The short, but sweet, gameplay teaser above does a great job of establishing the familiar humor and tone of the show. The game is clearly blending the best of both worlds, and the developers are even ensuring players that they’ll be able to step through Rick’s portals in virtual reality.
According to Owlchemy, the studio came into the partnership with Adult Swim and Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland in a charmingly unconventional way.
“This is truly a dream project for us. We’ve been huge fans of the franchise since the beginning. Working with Justin Roiland is hilarious, and he gets us. In fact, we first met serendipitously over our mutual love of Job Simulator, got drunk, ate Indian food, and then decided to make a video game together. And now we’re bringing the world of Rick and Morty to virtual life,” said Owlchemy in their official announcement post.
Owlchemy had nothing to say regarding a specific release date, but fans will be able to get a hands-on demo during San Diego Comic Con later this month.
