Apex Legends studio Respawn Entertainment announced future plans for the battle royale game alongside development of other titles within the studio.
Respawn started the blog post by acknowledging some of the issues in the game that are currently being investigated and will address more over the next few weeks, such as slow server performance at the start of the match, audio issues, cheating, and hit registration.
The developer also noted a lack of new content being added to the game that fans have been expecting, a similar sentiment that Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said earlier this week in regards to the studio favoring seasonal updates over forcing crunch hours for constant patches.
“We know that, in addition to addressing issues with the game, everyone is hungry for us to add new content,” Respawn wrote. “The studio culture that we’ve worked hard to cultivate, and the health of our team are very important.
“We take those things into account when we discuss our content roadmap, the production schedule, and the frequency in which we can update the game. Our long-term goal is to ensure Apex Legends always feels alive and thriving, with a focus on quality of content over novelty or speed of release.
“At the same time, we want to maintain our culture as a development team and avoid crunch that can quickly lead to burnout or worse.”
Respawn said that each season will start with a new Battle Pass, Legend character, and “something new for the meta” with more details about Season 2 coming at the EA Play event in June.
The studio also announced it is “pushing out plans for future Titanfall games” while keeping the resources for Apex Legends and the developer’s other title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, separate.
Respawn previously announced a “premium Titanfall experience” scheduled for later this year, and even halted another game for the Star Wars title.
