It’s been less than two weeks since Capcom revealed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard at Sony’s E3 Press Conference on June 13th, but the company have already started to offer some more details on what to expect from the upcoming survival horror game.
In an interview on the Capcom Community Blog, Resident Evil 7 producer Masachika Kawata revealed that the game would not feature quick-time events in any capacity, before admitting that “I know there are a lot of people who will be relieved to hear that.”
This marks a departure for the QTE mechanic in the series, which showed up regularly in both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.
Also during the interview, Kawata tempered fan fears over whether Resident Evil 7 would stay true to the heritage of the franchise, stating that Capcom “haven’t just thrown out Resident Evil as it exists and turned it into a ghost story. It will all make sense in the end.”
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is set to launch for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on Jan. 24, 2017. The game will also be fully playable with PlayStation VR.
