Remedy’s Control Will Have No “Meaningless Fetch Quests”

Control

With the advent of open-world games in today’s gaming generation, fetch quests have plagued countless titles left and right. While Control is more of a Metroidvania-style game than a sprawling open-world, the mere presence of side quests has concerned some gamers. Those sick of fetch quests will be glad to hear that Control will not have any meaningless side missions.

In an interview with GamesTM (as per Wccftech), game director Mikael Kasurinen said players will encounter a number “interesting” side missions throughout the main campaign. “We wanted each one to feel relevant or to at least be an interesting thing for you to do,” said Kasurinen. “We want to avoid busywork and meaningless fetch quests in Control, which side quests can so easily become.”

Control will be set solely inside the Oldest House, a supernatural location where the interiors and map layout will constantly shift throughout the story. Exploring the Oldest House will shed light on the story’s mysteries, and will introduce some non-hostile characters as well.

Control is being developed by the team behind Alan Wake and Quantum Break. Actors from both of these games will also lend their talents for Control. Specifically, Matthew Poretta from Alan Wake will voice Dr. Casper while Courtney Hope from Quantum Break will star as Jesse.

Control is scheduled to hit shelves sometime in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
