Reggie Fils-Aimé, former president of Nintendo of America, has joined Twitter.
This is his first step into the great wide world of social media, as today marks the day that he officially retires from his position at Nintendo.
For those out of the loop, back in February it was announced that Fils-Aimé would be retiring and handing over the role to Doug Bowser, an announcement that swept through the memesphere for obvious reasons.
He marks this momentous occasion with his first and currently only tweet:
Hi Twitter community. pic.twitter.com/1XUreHxM5W

Thanks to quotable moments like the oft-repeated “my body is ready”, his kicking ass and taking names speech, and the fact that Nintendo even lovingly puppetized him, Reggie has himself quite the fanbase. Many were saddened at the news of his retirement and his joining Twitter has sent a stir though that fanbase.
The account has been active for just over an hour, as of this article going live, and has already gathered over 66,000 followers. Finally able to speak with the man himself, fans are already expressing their feelings towards this move in the comments, ranging from “god I love you so much” to “Where’s Mother 3”.
With a bio reading “Retired President/COO @NintendoAmerica. Active business provocateur”, it’s unclear what Reggie plans to do exactly with his account. Whether or not it will be Nintendo-related is still a mystery.
