It’s that time of the month once again, and the NPD announced its results by way of Analyst Mat Piscatella, showing a portrait of the United States market in the all-important Holiday month of November. This, of course, includes the Thanksgiving and Black Friday combo.
The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in dollar sales, and it’s the only platform for which sales grew year-on-year. Year-to-date software sales also increased significantly, with Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu enjoying the second highest launch month sales of the franchise’s history behind Pokemon Stadium.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best selling game of the month, and the second best selling game of the year so far (behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 4). Its total sales now exceed the lifetime sales of Red Dead Redemption by 40%.
All current-gen consoles (Switch, PS4, and Xbox One) sold over 1.3 million units sold during the month. It’s the first time in history that all three platforms sold over a million each.
Despite the fact that the Switch was the top-selling platform for the month in dollar sales, the PS4 is still at the top for the whole year so far.
You can watch the full analysis by Piscatella himself in the video below. If you want to compare the results with the previous months, you can check out the NPD’s statistics for October, for September, and for August.
