Check out the Real Life Version of the Rope Launcher from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

This will be on so many Christmas lists this year.

The heroes of the Assassin’s Creed series always have impressive gadgets, but the siblings in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate may have the best arsenal yet. In addition to cane swords and the classic hidden blade, Evie and Jacob Frye are equipped with a rope launcher, which functions like an old-fashioned grappling hook. To show exactly how this item would work, inventor Colin Furze created a rope launcher in real life, along with a hidden blade to complete the Assassin arsenal.

On his YouTube channel, Furze released a series of videos that showed how he built a rope launcher. In the process, he combines the rope and grappling hook into a wrist-mounted device that’s propelled with a carbon dioxide canister.

In the end, Furze manages to make the device strong enough to lift him to the ceiling and over walls. He also created a hidden blade that’s triggered via a retractable ring and works just like it does in the game, slashing and stabbing through targets.

The rope launcher doesn’t work as quickly as it does in the game, but the Assassin’s Creed series has been known to embellish aspects of history for the sake of entertainment. It’s still impressive to see such a unique item from a game created in real life.
