This weekend will mark the third anniversary of Sea of Thieves and Rare is celebrating by offering up some limited-time sign-in items along with bonuses to reward players who hop in and play during the next few days.
For starters, the game itself is 50% off for the next three days. Also, anyone who logs in this week, Mar. 18 (10:00 UTC) and Mar. 25 (10:00 UTC) will get the Prosperous Captain’s Sails item. Xbox Game Pass members that log in from Mar. 18 to Mar. 21 will get the jump for joy emote.
There will also be a “Gold and Glory Weekend” that will run from March 19 (00:00 UTC) to March 22 (23:59 UTC). During this time you’ll get double gold, double Trading Company reputation, and extra seasonal renown.
Here’s a list of other promotions that are going to be running alongside the special third anniversary perks:
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can claim the Ocean Crawler Bundle for free between Mar. 18 (16:00 UTC) and June 18 (23:59 UTC) via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks.
- The final set of Twitch drops will be obtainable by tuning into a Sea of Thieves partner stream from Mar. 19 through Mar. 23.
- The final update to Season One will be added today. This will add a new Vault Raiders Event which will start on Mar. 25.
- There will be a Pirate Emporium sale running this weekend and a free “ROFL” emote claimable from the store.
- The first free issue of the Sea of Thieves Origins comic miniseries is available on ComiXology if you’re interested in some extra lore.
Rare flexes that over 20 million “pirates” have played since launch. While it was always a compelling and enjoyable pirate game, back in 2018 when it launched we felt it was a bit light on content. Since our review, though, Sea of Thieves has grown dramatically, offering new content such as fishing and dedicated PvP, and has settled into a stable niche.
