Even though PUBG has lost some ground against Fortnite, PUBG is making up for those losses with sick crossover content. Well, the mobile version of PUBG, at least, and the next crossover event to bless the game will be Resident Evil 2.

This news came from the official Resident Evil 2 Twitter account. While the tweet is in Japanese, the following is a rough translation:

“‘PUBG MOBILE’ x ‘Resident Evil RE:2’ collaboration is decided! What kind of innovative play can be produced by combining the world’s most popular mobile game and survival horror’s monument, two super IPs?”

That’s a good question. What can we expect from the crossover? The tweet doesn’t reveal any pertinent information, and neither does the accompanying video, which is just footage from the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake:

While neither Capcom nor Tencent Games have said anything else about the crossover, especially regarding a release date, gamers are hard at work speculating what the event will entail. One of the more popular, if obvious, theories is the crossover will let players fight off zombies. After all, you can’t spell Resident Evil without the living dead (or bio-organic weapons).

Odds are good the crossover will feature Resident Evil-themed rewards, such as a parachute emblazoned with the Umbrella Corporation logo, a Raccoon City Police Department outfit, and the iconic Samurai Edge pistol. Of course, this is all just speculation.

Previously, PUBG Mobile teamed up with Mission: Impossible – Fallout for in-game rewards inspired by the movie. And we can’t forget about PUBG’s ongoing crossover with Suicide Squad that features purchasable Harley Quinn and Joker skins.

We will keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding the PUBG Mobile x Resident Evil 2 crossover.
