The Last of Us video game was released in 2013 by Naughty Dog, the same company that created the Uncharted video games for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The game received universal critical acclaim, getting praised for its narrative, visuals, gameplay, score, characterization, depiction of female characters, and great performances via voice and motion capture by actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson.
The game received one major piece of story DLC, Left Behind, and it was remastered for PlayStation 4 in 2014 and was remade for PlayStation 5 as The Last of Us Part I. A sequel to the game was released for PlayStation 4 in 2020, The Last of Us Part II, which starts five years after the end of the first game and continues the story.
The TV series adaptation just debuted its first episode and its created by Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin and the video game director Neil Druckmann. The show stars Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones), Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate), and Anna Torv (Fringe).
