PS4 Console Exclusive Sudden Strike 4 Coming in 2017

Like Patton, the series has returned.

Today, Kite Games and Kalypso Media have announced that Sudden Strike 4 is coming to the PS4, PC, Mac and Linux in 2017. The fourth installment in the real-time strategy series marks a return to the franchise for the first time since 2010.

The developers promise this time around, the explosions and battlefields will be bigger and players will be able to use legendary commanders complete with their own unique abilities. Being the first time the series has been on a current generation console, Kite also says they’ve managed to soup up the graphics.

Sudden Strike 4 takes players to the battlefields of World War II. There, users will be able to decide whether they want to command American, British, German or Russian troops.

Which army you command will help determine what kind of vehicles and weapons are at your disposal such as the German bomber Heinkel He111, the Russian T-34 tank, the British Hawker Typhoon fighter plane and the notorious German Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger. In all you’ll be in command of as many as 100 different units.

You won’t be leading your troops into battle alone, as the game includes nine different commanders, including famed American general George Patton and British commander Bernard Montgomery. Each commander boasts unique abilities and different approaches to a given military engagement.

You’ll be able to try out just how good you would have been had you been smack dab in the action with 20 single player missions. The game will also include a “challenge-focused skirmish mode,” and a competitive multiplayer mode. There will also apparently be a new rewards system which will allow players to rack up points and earn rewards such as bonus content which includes historical film footage of the “Great War.”

Sudden Strike 4 is coming in the second quarter of next year for the Linux, Mac, and PC and will be a  console exclusive on the PS4.
