Today Sega hosted a new livestream for its upcoming game Shin Sakura Taisen, which for now is titled Project Sakura Wars for the west, showcasing plenty of information and footage.
First of all, we get the introduction of the beautiful Hakushu Murasame, designed by the massively popular Shigenori Soejima.
You likely know his work on the Persona series and on Catherine.
Two additional trailers showcase the designs of other characters by popular artists.
The first features the Shanghai Revue by K-On! and Lucky Star Character Designer Yukiko Horiguchi, the London revue designed by BunBun (Sword Art Online, Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru), and the Berlin Revue by Fumikane Shimada of Girls und Panzer fame.
The second trailer focuses on Hakushu Murasame herself, on top of Itsuki Saijo and Hiromi Hongo designed by Noizi Ito (Shakugan no Shana, Haruhi Suzumiya). It ends with Gekizo-kun designed by Ken Sugimori, whom you likely know as the Pokémon series’ Art Director and Character Designer.
Then we move on to introduce gameplay featuring Azami Mochizuki, including her special and co-op attacks.
Her co-op attack is absolutely hilarious. Watch it below.
The next video showcases a match of the World Floral Revue Tournament, with our heroes in action against the Shanghai Revue.
Another video shows all the features of the Smartron, which is basically our interactive map on top of steampunk smartphone and terminal to collect bromides of the girls.
We also see “Ikusa-chan” (Battle-chan), which is basically a battle simulator which let you replay past mission and gives you various quests. Once you achieve those, you unlock new bromides.
The next reveal is “Sekai Koikoi Taisen” (World Lovelove War), a card minigame that you can play against the heroines and enjoy their reactions to your wins or losses.
Incidentally, we also get a sneak tease of a DLC featuring the inevitable bikinis coming after the game’s launch.
If you want to see more about Project Sakura Wars, you can also enjoy the first trailer of the character design series featuring Bleach creator Tite Kubo.
You can also take a look at the lastest gallery of screenshots, the previous one, another batch of images focusing on romance, another reveal with two new characters and videos, the beautiful anime opening cutscene, a music video dedicated to Sakura, one featuring Hatsuho one focusing on Elise, one showcasing Lancelot, one featuring Anastasia Palma, another starring Huang Yui, one showing Claris, more trailers, the latest gameplay, latest gallery of screenshots, another gallery, the previous gameplay reveal, another one, and an earlier gallery of screenshots and art.
