Prince of Persia originally made its debut back in 1989 on the Apple II computer. Several sequels were released before Ubisoft bought the series and released the critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2003.
The series flourished under Ubisoft and several more installments were released. However, by the end of the PS3/Xbox 360 era, the series seemed to be put on ice and the Assassin’s Creed franchise appears to have taken its place.
Jordan Mechner, the creator of Prince of Persia, recently took to Twitter to reveal that he is eager to see the dashing Prince return and that he and a few other people are fighting hard to try and make sure that happens. The Tweet came about after model Christine Teigen asked if Prince of Persia is still around, saying she loved the game. Mechner saw her Tweet and replied with the following:
Chrissy, I know a few other people who feel the same way. We’re doing our best to make it happen! https://t.co/guYWh1n0E8

Ubisoft later chimed in by saying the series is still on pause at the moment, though they did deliver a humorous Photoshop of Teigen as the Prince.
Hey @chrissyteigen 👋 Unfortunately, the Prince of Persia franchise is still on pause at the moment but Chrissy of Persia sure is a character we wish we came up with earlier. pic.twitter.com/OSvEh6yjUv

Whilst Mechner developed the very first Prince of Persia games, he also helped other Ubisoft games come to fruition and is still synonymous with the series. No doubt there are many gamers out there who have fond memories of the series and would love to see it return.
