It was announced via PlayStation’s State of Play event today that Predator: Hunting Grounds, the upcoming multiplayer shooter based on the popular series of the same name, will be released on Apr. 24th for PlayStation 4.
A new gameplay trailer accompanied this release date, which showcased a few small snippets of new gameplay.
Predator: Hunting Grounds will see a group of players against a single Predator, who will also be controlled by a real-life player. Here, we got high emphasis on playing as the Predator, with a brief, but varied look at the multiple classes and weapons you can kit yourself out with.
You have the hunter class which appears to be your basic, all-around setup. There are berserkers, who have increased health to accommodate players who primarily play as a tank and finally, we got a look at scouts, who favor speed and stamina for quick traversal through the jungle.
We also got a look at a host of the Predator’s abilities ranging from the shoulder cannon – the franchise famous heat vision mode, as well as various weapons such as spears, disks and a bow and arrow.
You can see all of this in the trailer below.
By developer IllFonic, Predator: Hunting Grounds is described as “an immersive asymmetrical shooter set in remote areas around the world, where the Predator stalks the most challenging prey.”
“Play as a member of an elite Fireteam and complete paramilitary operations before the Predator finds you. Or, play as the Predator to hunt the most worthy prey, choosing from your vast array of deadly alien tech to collect your trophies, one by one.”
Predator: Hunting Grounds will release on Apr. 24, and you can pre-order now to receive an exclusive Predator skin from the 1987 film and early access to the “Old Painless” mini-gun, which can also be seen in the film.
