The Pokémon Company revealed that a new “Dusk Form” Lycanroc would appear in the upcoming Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon last week. Today it’s followed up with a bunch more info and a trailer showcasing the new form.
Dusk Form Lycanroc seems to be a meld of the Midday and Midnight Forms. It stands on four-legs and has obedience towards its trainer, and has four rocks around its neck like the Midday Form. However, when it attacks its eyes turn red, and it has a mane like the Midnight Form.
The new moves Lycanroc gets with the Dusk Form are also a combo of its previous two forms. It’ll learn Accelerock, a Rock-type move that allows the user to go first, like Midday Form Lycanroc. Like the Midnight Form, it’ll learn the Fighting-type move counter that returns double the damage of an opponents physical attack.
This Pokémon also gets a new ability to go with its new form: Tough Claws. Tough Claws increases the power of moves that make direct contact with other Pokémon.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get Dusk Form Lycanroc by conventional means; you can’t catch it during a regular game. Instead, you’ll have to get a special Rockruff as a pre-order bonus for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Between November 17, 2017, and January 10, 2018, those that pre-order can get the special Rockruff from the Nintendo Network. When this Rockruff evolves, it’ll transform into Dusk Form Lycanroc.
There’ll be more details from Nintendo on exactly how to go about getting the special Rockruff soon. You can pre-order Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon now and play them when they launch November 17 for the Nintendo 3DS.
