We saw a brief teaser trailer of what to expect. It started off with a live-action portion featuring a police officer investigating an old, dusty room inside a building. Then we got a glimpse of some never seen before areas of a Pokemon region, featuring Pokemon we already know in brand new towns and locations.

The most exciting part of this trailer is that we got to see a glimpse of the three new starter Pokemon of the region: a grass-type cat, a fire-type crocodile, and a water-type duck. Here is what they look like:

Based on the trailer, it looks like this next generation of Pokemon will be similar in artistic style to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the latest game in the series. However, we do not yet know if the gameplay will be more similar to that game or like the last new generation, Pokemon Sword and Shield.

After the Pokemon Presents broadcast, the official Pokemon Twitter account stated that Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet is “an open-world adventure.”

The video ends with the information that Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are being developed by Game Freak as an all-new entry in the Pokemon series and that the two games will be releasing worldwide in late 2022.

We’ll be sure to update you when there is more information revealed, but until then, you can watch the Pokemon Presents broadcast and the official announcement of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet below. The final announcement begins at the 10:47 timestamp.
