PlayStation Plus Members Can Play Doom for Free This Weekend

Go to hell.

Doom

PlayStation Plus members will be pleased to learn that Sony has announced that members can download and play Doom completely free of charge this weekend. The game received great reviews when it was first released and is definitely worth checking out if you haven’t had a chance to play it yet.

Doom is available to download right now on the PlayStation Store and will remain free-to-play until Monday, July 31. The game’s three DLC packs, Unto the Evil, Hell Followed, and Bloodfall are all available as well. If you want to keep playing the game after the free trial ends, then you’ll need to pay for it. However, the game is currently on sale until mid August and is only US $15 / £12 / AU $18.

It’s unclear exactly why Sony has opted to make Doom free for the weekend but no doubt a lot of gamers will be trying it out. It is possible it’s to help soften the news that, as we reported, PlayStation Plus subscription prices will be increasing. August’s line up of free PlayStation Plus games has also been announced and includes Just Cause 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry.
