PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Has Over 30 Million Players Across Xbox One and PC

That's a lot of chicken dinners.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, month 3 update

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has arguably been the biggest game of 2017 and is a battle royale-style game where 100 players must fight it out until only one remains. After parachuting in, players must search for weapons and supplies in order to have a fighting chance of staying alive.

The game has officially left Steam’s Early Access and the 1.0 PC version is now available. The game also saw a release on the Xbox One as a “Game Preview Edition” last week and, despite some performance issues, has been very popular.

To celebrate PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds leaving Steam’s Early Access, PUBG Corp. has sent out a press release (via WCCFTech) announcing that, across all platforms, the game has seen over 30 million players fighting to be the one who takes home the coveted chicken dinner.

CEO of PUBG Corp. and Executive Producer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds CH Kim said in the release: “2017 has been a phenomenal year for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. With over 30 million players globally across PC platforms and the Xbox Game Preview program, we owe the success we’ve experienced this year to the community, whose passion has inspired all of us here at PUBG Corp. to make the very best game we can. We’ll continue to fine tune the Battle Royale experience and will introduce additional in-game content, including new crates, to become available in early 2018.”

A new post on the game’s Steam forum has also outlined future plans for the game. We can apparently look forward to new anti-cheat measures, increased network stability, improved gunplay, and better sound and animations. Additionally, anyone who logs in over the next few weeks will also get this new t-shirt:

It’s good to see that the developer seems to be committed to polishing up the game as much as possible. It looks like we can expect it to be even bigger and better over the course of 2018.
