According to Gematsu, Electronic Arts received the trademark for “Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville” from the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office with not much other information about the title included in the documents.

It is unknown if this is for a new or existing title, though franchise developer PopCap announced Plants vs. Zombies 3 last month. It is a free-to-play mobile game that is currently in pre-alpha for a limited number of people through Google Play.

Another possible option is for a new Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare shooter. Electronic Arts invited select players to try out a new PvZ shooter codenamed “picnic” in a closed alpha test last month.

The alpha playtest was for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and said in an email that the codenamed game was created by the team behind PvZ: Garden Warfare.

The only other option is a new spin-off title, since Neighborville is the name of the main setting in the Plants vs. Zombies comic book series.

The last game in the shooter series, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, released in 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
