Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Gets Reveal Trailer

The Phantasy Star Online series is getting a new installment in the form of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, and it has a teaser trailer to give fans a glimpse of what it has in store.

Streamed during the Xbox Games Showcase event held on July 23, the trailer kicks off with glimpses of an idyllic fantasy world. Birds soar through the air along winds which blow across a variety of terrains and locales. All the while, a young man in futuristic armor sprints across the landscape, setting off toward an unknown goal or adversary.

From there, the trailer cuts to various scenes of the young man in combat. Sometimes, he’s joined by other individuals in futuristic armor who assist him in battles with fantastical creatures; other times, he confronts these dangers solo, utilizing frenzied and fast movements to dodge, attack and unload technological attacks against them.

In either scenario, battles are a blitz of color, with laser blasts and magic explosions that make each scuffle a feast for the eyes.

It all culminates in the young man and his allies confronting a titanic being, the former swiping an energy sword which blots out the screen with a burst of light.

Little else was revealed about the game in terms of story specifics, or whether the game is a remake or a stand-alone title. All the same, fans will want to view the full trailer down below.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is currently slated for release on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC in 2021 in North America, while the Japanese release slated for the same year will see versions on the PlayStation 4 and – via cloud – the Nintendo Switch as well.
