There’s a lot of reasons to love Animal Crossing: it’s relaxing, you get to build whatever kind of island life you want, and you can create in a lot of cool ways. Twitter user John Edwards (@EuclidianBoxes) created something extra cool by creating the famous Pac-Man maze along with Blinky, Pinkey, Inky and Clyde.
If you’re wondering how Pac-Man moves around, John crafted a custom hat so that Pac-Man appears on the top of his head, giving the illusion that when he moves, so does Pac-Man.
When asked how he made certain aspects of the Pac-Man set piece, he had this to say:
“I was using the island designer tool to level a raised area on my island. I started doing long corridors through the ground to avoid having the half-broken sections that you get on edges. When you’re in a corridor like that, the game tilts the camera to more of an overhead angle than usual which reminded me of Pac-Man. So I started making sections of wall like the maze then put down custom paths for the pellets and used custom designs for the different sections of walls.”
Although there are plenty of tools to use within Animal Crossing, the custom path tool indeed leads to infinite possibilities like how John made the pellets. There are plenty of separate instances of others using the custom tools provided in the game, like when someone recreated Hyrule from A Link to the Past or used Harvey’s Island to recreate scenes from The Office.
If you have anything you’ve created in Animal Crossing that is extraordinary, tweet it at @Twinfinite!
