Overwatch Competitive Mode Live on PC Today, Consoles next Week

Overwatch players will be pleased to know that the highly anticipated Competetive mode will be arriving today, June 28, on PC. Console players can expect this mode to be added to the game sometime next week, however, at the time of writing no exact date has been revealed.

“We know this isn’t an ideal way to deliver new content, so we’re going to continue to refine our patching processes over the next few months in an effort to sync up our release dates across platforms as closely possible.”

The blog post also reveals that the first season of competitive play will be shorter than the others, lasting only 1.5 months rather than the expected 2.5 months. Blizzard says that the reason for starting on a shorter season is because it allows players to work towards their rewards as quickly as possible and allows them to learn from their experience for future improvements.

In related Overwatch news, a patch coming in July will nerf the turret-toting hero Torjbön. At the moment, the nerf is only taking place on the console version of the game and is said to decrease his turret damage output by %30. You can read the full story by clicking here.
