The NPD’s Matt Piscatella was on hand to provide supporting commentary for today’s results, noting that 2019 is the “20th consecutive year that a Madden NFL franchise has been the best-selling title in its release month.”

Madden 20 is already the 8th best-selling game of the year, and Madden remains the most valuable sports franchise in US video game history.

But Nintendo also deserves a share of the accolades in July.

“Six of the top 10 best-selling video games of July 2019 are Nintendo platform exclusives,” said Piscatella, which includes Fire Emblem, Super Mario Maker 2 (released in June), Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3, and The Black Order.
