Nioh 2, Launch Trailer

The world will come straight for the player’s throat in Nioh 2, or at least that’s the impression given off by the game’s launch trailer.

Streamed via the official PlayStation YouTube channel on Mar. 11, the trailer provides a glimpse of the allies, enemies and threats players will encounter in the game when it releases later this month.

Some are of the human variety, ranging from eccentric bandits and battle-hardened warriors who protect their homes. Others are malevolent spirits of the night, out to devour any careless wanderer who crosses their path at an in-opportune moment. Regardless, it’ll be the player’s job to battle alongside or against them.

And battle they shall: Following a brief and suspense-filled build-up, the trailer moves into sequence after sequence of the player character struggling to clash and slash their way through Nioh 2’s enemies. Sometimes, they succeed and take down their aggressors; and other times, they fail, torn to shreds by the opponent’s strength.

Fortunately, there are a number of tools and techniques available to the player to ensure the latter doesn’t befall them. From a wide array of weapons they can equip to the ability to let loose their inner demon, there are more than a few ways they can turn the tables on their enemies and come out on top.

It’s a flashy and intense trailer to say the least, and it culminates in a reveal fans of the first game might find some reason to be excited about.

The trailer can be viewed in its entirety below.

Nioh 2 is set to release on Mar. 13 exclusively on the PlayStation 4. For more on the game, check out a recent trailer and T.V. commercial which dive deeper into the game’s character creation mechanics, combat and other gameplay elements that players will want to have a grasp on.
