Nintendo’s Switch released last week, and initial sales reports suggest that the system is doing pretty well. Despite this, many players were disappointed by the absence of media and streaming services available on the system at launch.
In an interview with The Washington Post, however, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the company is currently in talks with streaming services, though he remained tight-lipped on any other details. “We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon – things that will come in time.” Fils-Aime said.
Fils-Aime went on to explain a little bit about why the Switch perhaps didn’t have these features at launch. “In our view, these are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.”
While there’s no confirmation as of yet that these services will definitely come to the Switch, at least fans can rest assured that Nintendo is making the right steps in adding these services in down the line. For now, though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
