At a recent Nintendo earnings meeting, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that he wants to see more DLC content for the companies existing games.

This could be good news for anyone who has been eagerly awaiting additional content for Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey.

According to a report from Bloomberg’s Yuji Nakamura, Furukawa said, “We need continuous growth. We must keep releasing new software. That includes DLCs and other contents for big titles that are already out. And more focus on online play. Lastly, more genres and diverse games to draw in people who don’t currently play on Switch.”

The inclusion of “big titles” seems to point towards games like Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild or Mario Kart 8. While Breath of the Wild has received a story expansion in The Champion’s Ballad, Super Mario Odyssey has only received small additions like Luigi’s Balloon World and costumes for Mario.

The Switch’s version of Mario Kart 8 already includes the large amount of DLC content added to the Wii U version. However, considering the game’s continued presence on the NPD charts, Nintendo may support the game more.

As for the focus on online play, it stands to reason that upcoming titles like Lets Go, Pikachu and Eevee and Animal Crossing will include significant online components.

Beyond these games, it’s not yet clear what a focus on online play could mean for Nintendo.
