Update: Earlier today, PC Gamer reported that the Square Enix rep who told them of NieR: Automata’s simulatneous release on PS4 and PC was misinformed. While the PC version is “definitely” coming next year, it won’t be when the PS4 version releases.
Original Story: This weekend at the PlayStation Experience, Square Enix announced that their upcoming ARPG NieR: Automata would release for the PS4 on March 7 in America and the 10th in Europe and Australia. Thankfully, PC fans won’t have to wait too long to wait, as their version will also be releasing on the same day. A Square Enix rep confirmed the news to PC Gamer.
Developed by Platinum Games of Bayonetta fame, NieR: Automata takes place after the original game’s fourth ending (yes, you read that right.) This time around, players will take on the role of 2B, an android part of a resistance on Earth fighting against machine invaders from another world. If you’re interested in the sequel, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a weapon from Square Enix’s other big ARPG, Final Fantasy XV, that you can use in the game. It’ll also support the PS4 Pro when it releases.
NieR: Automata has a little over three months before it releases, so you thankfully won’t have too terribly long to wait.
