During today’s financial conference call for investors and analysts, Activision Blizzard executives talked about the next Call of Duty game.
We hear from president and chief operating officer Daniel Alegre that Activision is “very excited” about the next premium game of the series coming this fall, the development of which is being led by Sledgehammer Games.
Alegre mentioned that the game is “looking great” and on track with its full release. It’s built to be a “next-generation experience” with “stunning visuals across campaign, multiplayer, and cooperatives modes of play.”
It’s also “designed to integrate with and enhance the existing COD ecosystem” (which, of course, means Warzone). More details will be shared with the community “soon.”
On top of that, we learn that Activision planning to pass 2,000 developers hired between 2020 and 2021, tripling the sizes of certain franchises’ teams compared to 2019.
The company has major expansion plans around the world including new studios or major expansions in Poland, China, Australia, and Canada.
The current incarnation of Call of Duty is Black Ops: Cold War, available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox. Of course, the franchise also counts on the super-popular stand-alone battle royale mode Warzone, available for the same platforms for free.
