As Mass Effect: Andromeda draws closer to release, BioWare will be releasing a series of videos focused on different parts of gameplay, with the first being out today. This one is geared towards your combat abilities and weapons.
Like with the original Mass Effect, there’s four classes of weapons for Ryder to use in Andromeda: shotguns, pistols, and assault and sniper rifles, along with melee weapons. No matter what specialization you’re geared towards–biotics, tech, guns–you can use all of them, and you can switch your loadout easily. Milky Way weapons, as seen in the original series, use projectiles and regular ammo as seen in the sequels, Remnant weapons use the overheat system in the original game, and Helius weapons are based on plasma and found by civilizations in the Helius Cluster. Melee weapons range from hammers to shivs and swords.
As far as skills are concerned in Mass Effect: Andromeda, you can switch between the different skills with every mission. Combat skills let you use grenades and trip mines, tech skills gain Ryder access to more experimental weaponry like assault drones, and Biotics allow you to literally throw enemies or create singularities. Each skill can be customized to its full potential.
Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on Mar. 21. More videos focused on squad commands and specializations will be releasing in the near future.
