Ishiwatari-san mentions that the goal for the game is to achieve something that both veterans and newbies can enjoy. The core concept is neither an evolution of past titles nor an attempt to return to the roots of the franchise, but it aims to create a “brand new experience” for Guilty Gear.

You can read the whole message below.

The latest iteration of Guilty Gear is dated 2017, with Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2. This time around it appears that Ishiwatari-san wants to completely revolutionize the franchise, and as he says in the message that’s certainly a risky move. Yet, it’s also exciting. We’ll see if he and his team will be successful.

In the meanwhile, you can go back and check out the trailer showcased at EVO in case you missed it.

The new game is set for a release in 2020, but no platforms have been revealed just yet. Hopefully, we’ll hear more precise information soon.
