Need for Speed Payback Zooming to Consoles and PC This November

Doin' a speedy zoom.

Need for Speed is back again this November with Need for Speed Payback, and a raucous ned trailer straight out of Gamescom 2017. Even with EA bringing an actual, real-life car out on stage to promote the holiday season’s most action-packed racer, the trailer is still on fire.

The gameplay shown off in the new trailer doesn’t add that much to what we already saw in the E3 2017 trailer, but there’s a new vehicle to check out: the Rhino. The Rhino is exactly what it sounds like, though of course it isn’t an animal or anything. It’s an armored vehicle meant to ram you off of the road and keep you compliant. If that’s not enough to keep you down, there’s also kill switches and helicopters for the police to subdue you. And oh, they’re going to try. Kill switches are meant to take away all of the electronics your car uses, to terrifying effect.

Need for Speed Payback is going to be an interesting twist on the typical “car chases you, you chase car” gameplay we’re used to seeing, and it looks like a pretty fast-paced racer for anyone who’s looking for high-octane action when on the road. It’s debuting on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 10.
