Capcom’s newest entry in the Monster Hunter franchise is on the horizon and is launching for the Nintendo Switch this month – in Japan. Monster Hunter XX is an enhanced version of Monster Hunter X (Generations in the U.S.) and a port of the 3DS version is headed to the Switch.
A demo for Monster Hunter XX just dropped on the Japanese eShop and is of course, entirely in Japanese. Capcom has stated that there are currently no plans to release the game for western audiences, so unfortunately the demo is not available on the Nintendo Eshop in the states, but there is still a way for western fans of Monster Hunter to try out the demo. All you have to do is create a new Nintendo user account on your Switch and when asked what region you reside in, make sure to choose Japan. You will then have access to the Japanese eShop and the Monster Hunter XX demo.
It’s unfortunate that Capcom doesn’t have plans to bring the game west just yet, but we are getting Monster Hunter World next year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so that’s something to celebrate.
