Mojang has announced that it has a new game on the way. The game is called Minecraft: Dungeons and is described by the company as being “inspired by their love of classic dungeon crawler games.” According to Mojang, this game is a passion project of a small team of developers in Stockholm, Sweden.
The game will be an action adventure game that can be played solo or with friends. As you play through the game’s many dungeons, traversing canyons, swamps, and as to be expected, mines, you’ll pick up various weapons, items and loot. Of course, mobs of monsters will stand in your path as you go on a journey to save villagers from a villain called the Arch-Illager.
If the game is anything like the announcement trailer, expect a visual upgrade over Minecraft and even Minecraft: Story Mode. Particle effects look impressive as the trailer shows off some classic mobs from the original game.
Four adventurers are shown traveling down an elevator into the dungeon, so it’s possible that the game will allow up to four player co-op. You can watch the trailer down below:
Minecraft: Dungeons has a release window of 2019 and will be available on PC.
