Update: Activision have now fully revealed Warzone with a trailer. It will be available to Modern Warfare owners at 11am ET tomorrow and will be free to play for everyone just four hours later.
Once 3pm ET rolls around, anyone who wants to play Warzone can download it for free as a standalone experience.
Taking place in Verdansk, “an expansive city with multiple named zones and well over 300 points of interest,” it will allow for up to 150 players on the map at once.
You can read all about the mode on Activision’s website.
Original story continues below:
Following various in-game teases and leaks over the past few weeks, a countdown that has begun in Modern Warfare suggests that Warzone, the game’s long-awaited battle royale mode, will be launching tomorrow.
When Season Two began a few weeks ago, the intro cinematic teased the battle royale and a ‘Classified’ tab appeared on the main menu, alongside the Multiplayer and Spec-Ops modes.
Today, a countdown timer has appeared on that Classified tab, which expires at 11am ET tomorrow morning. You can see a screenshot of what the countdown timer looks like down below.
Of course, since neither Infinity Ward or Activision have officially announced that the battle royale mode even exists, the countdown could be to the reveal itself rather than the launch.
After a gameplay clip of Warzone leaked this morning, which was yet more confirmation that the mode’s release was imminent, an announcement is to be expected very soon.
The leaked gameplay clip shows players parachuting out of a plane onto a huge map that seems to consist of many popular Modern Warfare maps. As expected, it seems to be pretty similar to Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode.
As more details are revealed about Modern Warfare’s Warzone, we’ll let you know everything you need to know. Twinfinite will also have all the guides you need to get that all important win.
