Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered May Need Infinite Warfare’s Disc

Modern Warfare Remastered will be available to the digital downloaders a month before the physical copy owners.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and, as such, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered are both quickly approaching, and it can be easily argued that many are just as, if not more, excited for Modern Warfare Remastered as they are for Infinite Warfare. Perhaps, for some, that may be the main incentive of getting the special edition containing Modern Warfare Remastered.

This might be justified as well,a s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, was one of the most well-received games of the previous generation, and set the foundation for one of the most popular gaming franchises in history. However, some information has come out that may affect those who are planning on getting the physical version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition, which is that the disc for Infinite Warfare may be required to play Modern Warfare Remastered.

This may not come as a shock to some, but to others, this may be a surprise. The website for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has a Modern Warfare Remastered page, and it says that, for PlayStation 4 owners, the digital version will be available for play 30 days early. The confusion arises where physical copies are concerned. One might assume that there will be a digital code sent to them or that Modern Warfare Remastered will be playable early in some other way. On the website page, however, it elaborates on physical copies of the Legacy Edition:

“Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).”

As indicated by this statement, the digital version of the Legacy Edition will contain an early playable version of Modern Warfare Remastered. However, the physical version’s Modern Warfare Remastered will only be playable through the Infinite Warfare disc, meaning that those who pre-ordered the Legacy Edition, or plan on buying it, will not be able to play it until Infinite Warfare’s launch.

This is a great added benefit for those who pre-ordered the digital version of the Legacy Edition, but an unfortunate circumstance for those who pre-ordered the physical rendition. However, in the gaming culture, where there is always anticipation for new games to come out, 30 days should be a relatively small amount of time to play Modern Warfare Remastered. In the meantime, those who pre-ordered the digital Legacy Edition will be able to play Modern Warfare Remastered on Oct. 5. For everybody else, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be available Nov. 4.
