Nintendo has revealed that Metroid Prime 4 is now in development for the Nintendo Switch. They have released a short teaser clip stating that it is in development with no further details as of now. However, it seems like this game will be the next mainline installment in the franchise.
The Metroid series began back in 1986 as a side-scrolling game for the Famicom which quickly rose to fame alongside titles like Mario and Zelda. Since then, the Metroid games have been made for other platforms like the Gamecube, Nintendo DS, and the Wii.
The series protagonist, Samus Aran, has become one of Nintendo’s most prominent icons and is famous for her unique Power Suit. Similarly, she has appeared in other games like Super Smash Bros. and the Super Mario RPG because of her immense popularity.
The last mainline game in the franchise, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, was released back in 2007 for the Wii. After a nearly 10-year hiatus, Metroid Prime 4 will finally be arriving on the latest Nintendo console.
For now, fans will have to wait for more details about the upcoming Metroid Prime 4. What are your thoughts on Nintendo’s choice to bring back the Metroid franchise? Let us know down in the comments below.
