Metro Exodus: Sam’s Story Expansion Releases Early Next Month

Metro Exodus Sam's Story

Following on from Metro Exodus’ first expansion, The Two Colonels, developer 4A Games has today announced the launch date of its next chapter. Called Sam’s Story, the content is slated to release next month Feb. 11, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia.

4A Games describes the nature of Sam’s Story’s narrative focus:

“In this sandbox-survival expansion, players will forge Sam’s path on his journey through Vladivostok on his mission to find his way home to the USA. Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostok’s tsunami ravaged harbors, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts.

To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected.”

Players can, of course, expect to learn much more about Sam during the journey, which should be expected in an expansion where the title tells you in big letters just whose story it is.

“Sam has long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and maybe finding his family alive. The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didn’t feel so foolish anymore.”

Considering how devastated post-apocalyptic Russia is portrayed as being throughout the Metro series, we’re banking on Sam’s journey to the United States as likely to be a fairly rough one.

Given that Sam’s Story takes place after the conclusion of Metro Exodus’ story, players who haven’t yet finished the main campaign have two weeks to prepare.
